Strike Averted

Disagreement between management and workers of Funji Corp., Dathomir’s largest food-shipping company, over wages and business hours nearly resulted in a massive strike that would have crippled the industry for at least two weeks, had it not been for the timely intervention of Hapan government mediators. Stepping in to resolve the crisis as amicably as possible, government mediators helped the two sides arrive at mutually acceptable terms, though the exact details of that arrangement have not yet been released.

David Metz, leader of Funji Corp.’s workers’ union, stated that he was grateful for the aid of the government mediators in helping to resolve the dispute as efficiently as possible. “None of our boys want to have to take a couple weeks off work to strike if we can avoid it, so we’re glad that those government folks were able to help bring our grievances before the Management in a less disruptive way.” A spokesperson for Funji Corp.’s board of directors was similarly relieved that the matter had been resolved quietly. “We’re satisfied with the way things turned out, and pleased that we were able to arrive at a suitable compromise with our valued employees.”

Funji Corp. employs several thousand workers on Dathomir, and their transport ships haul thousands of tons of food products to retail stores across the planet each day. Their stocks, shaky after the initial announcement of a potential strike four days ago, have regained their former value now that the strike has been averted, and are up three and a half points from last week’s high.
