The logo of HNN's "Eye on Lorell Hall" news report appears on on the screen and is soon replaced by the Consortium's favourite news anchor. The familiar blonde beauty smiles warmly as she starts her daily report on the Hapan government.
"I am Anacia Chalcedon and this is Eye on Lorell Hall. Following the second restructuring of the Royal Hapan Armed Forces in a relatively short period of time, His Majesty King James approved the reinstatement of the Ministry of Defence which had been defunct since 4030. The Ministry of Defence has, in the past, been a controversial establishment due to the clear seperation of government and military within the Hapes Consortium during the last decade. However, His Majesty along with His Excellency, the Lord-Regent, have expressed confidence in the ministry as clear boundaries have been drawn up to clearly establish its role and authority.
There was a great deal of speculation within the walls of Lorell Hall on who the new minister would be. The appointment of Mors Baynos as Minister of Defence came as a welcome surprise to the members of the Royal Hall. Baynos has previously held a seat on the Royal Council as Minister of Intelligence prior to Zayth Kadrim and now takes up the position as the third Minister of Defence in Hapan history, following in the footsteps of Pez Harr and Lord Tyrridon. Since leaving the government a while back, he has been part of the Royal Hapan Navy as fleet commander and commodore."
The image cuts to that of the grand steps leading to the entrance of Lorell Hall where Mors Baynos can be seen arriving for his first day on the job as a civilian again along with his wife and colleague, Ministress of Finance Carrie Jade. He approaches the waiting reporters with a smile on his face and briefly addresses them.
"I'm very honoured to be given this position by the King and will do my utmost to not fail him and the Royal Council. With the aid of the Chiefs of Staff, Locke Firecam and Tovakinpi Toshikhan, I aim to improve our King's military to new heights."
The view cuts back to the studio once again where Chalcedon continues her report.
"The restructuring also led to the abolishment of the Grand Council where all ministers of the government would meet with the highest ranking officers of the royal armed forces. The Grand Council's function has diminished with the appointment of a Minister of Defence that sits in the Royal Council, political experts say. The new minister is now expected to function as a bond between the armed forces and government. It is theorised that Baynos' experience with the government's and its hawkish officials will make it a smoother ride than ever before.
That is all for now on this case. We will be back after commercials for an update on the latest projects of the Ministry of Industry..."
